’Et Os To' is a piece for 8 voices (SSAATTBB) written for the Danish Vocal Ensemble in 2021. The project was about the covid pandemic and the consequences of quarantine. The poet Caspar Eric wrote a poem that was used in the piece.
The premiere of the piece is supposed to be as a transmission on the radio (Danish Radio P2) in April 2021. The recording of the piece will be in late March the same year. Becuase of the corona, the piece had to be written in a way that it could be performed and recorded by the singers separately and then put together. But the restrictions changed before the recording so the piece will be recorded with all the singers and a conductor in a studio. But, the isolation version still exist.
When you are kept away from living a normal life, you turn to the basics. The world has shrunk so you focus on the details around you. Your voice, your body, what you see, hear and feel. Your thoughts get caught up in loops. Sounds used in the piece are whistling, breathing, coughing, grimaces and much more. Trying to find your way again.
The title comes from the poem used in the piece.

Hey, hvad så lille Takvinge-ven
Jeg står på min altan
og ryger på den sidste smøg
mens foråret kryber frem
også her under mit joggingsæt
alt det der langsomt muterer
i den puppe som verden er blevet.
Alt hvad der spirer er ensomt
indtil det skyder op
i en smukkere og fælles krop.
Jeg drømmer om Takvingevinger
ja, jeg drømmer om nye moves
svæve rundt som et os i regnen.
Text by Caspar Eric (2021)
